SPRING CLASS SCHEDULE
By the time spring classes roll around I will have had a year off from teaching! Wow - some amazing things have happened in that time (related to my own art-making - the rest of the world startles me almost every day!!). I'm excited to share new information and just get brushes wet with you all - I miss those painting days!
Two mini-workshops and several basics classes will be scheduled March-May. The Minis will be alternated between Sans Souci and SAS so you could take both without doubling up if you like. For those of you who take other classes, travel, and just like to plan ahead, here are the dates and locations for your reference. I have determined that 4 days (four hours each day) will make for a much stronger mini-workshop series when working on new material (rather than 3). It will give us two days for introduction, demonstrations, shared class project, critique and one-on-one time. Then we will have 2 days to work with our own reference material reinforced with instructor feedback, more individual help and sharing information with other painters on the same path. We will wrap up with that all-important group critique and review at the end. With four days we should have finished both the group project and the individual pieces.
Class content has not yet been finalized - the workshops will be NEW MATERIAL - added in to what we already know and do. Because I have fallen in love with plein air work, there will be information on integrating techniques and materials for both studio and portable best practices. The mini-workshops will be hard-working sessions covering new techniques, styles, and materials I've gathered from this last year in the field and with wonderful artists teaching their workshops (Ron Stocke, Herman Pekel, and Soon Y Warren - all of whom have books and/or DVD's for your reference). Basics classes will be designed to jump-start fresh painters to allow you to fit in other classes with more confidence even though you are just getting traction!
Wednesday mini-workshops will be held at Sans Souci in Spokane from 10-2pm
Friday classes will be held at Spokane Art Supply from 10-2pm and likely some open studio time for you to stay a little longer if you like.
Basics series from 10-1pm. Open Studio time may be possible at SAS on these dates - to be determined later.
April 10 – Basics
April 17 - Basics
April 24 - Basics
Saturday mini-workshops for my Chewelah area will also run from 10-2.
If there are beginning painters in the Chewelah area, I will try to work out another class/time option as the workshops are complex enough without adding more to the mix!
Keep an eye out for class content and finalized schedules - I will send out the newsletter to let everyone know when they are posted. If you are not signed up for the newsletter, you will find the 'Contact Form' here. If you have received this without signing up for the newsletter, it’s relied on my memory… might be better to sign up for the newsletter :-)
Hope to see you soon :-)
